The Lodge is only 3km from the beautifully preserved and historic university town of Stellenbosch, making it an ideally location from where you can explore one of South Africa’s oldest communities.

Many of the original buildings have been faithfully restored. There are many outstanding examples of Cape Dutch architecture, mainly along Dorp Street, as well as several leading art galleries, museums, beautiful boutiques, antique shops, jewellers, farm stalls and an exciting range of restaurants, bistros and brasseries.

De Zalze lies on the Stellenbosch Wine Route, South Africa’s most prominent route and source of many of the country’s award-winning wines. Follow it to learn, firsthand, about the area’s most renowned wineries.

Saturday morning organic- and flea markets also provide a wonderful opportunity for browsing and engaging with the area’s creative talent. Golfers can discover the glorious De Zalze Golf Course – one of the Cape’s finest venues – and continue at a range of other top-ranking courses in the Winelands and beyond!
