The Lodge Restaurant serves French Cape Bistro cuisine and is operated under the guidance of Nic Van Wyk, one of South Africa’s most interesting and innovative chefs.

Here, guests are invited to enjoy a relaxed and informal dining experience with an emphasis on ‘easy’ meals that cater to the whole family. Fresh local produce is deployed wherever possible, and Nic’s exposure to international and local flavours is portrayed in his light and fresh creations.

For larger parties, a wide variety of meal options may be arranged when you contact us in advance.

No environment is more perfect in which to pair a fine meal and world class Kleine Zalze wines! Since opening its doors in October 2004, Terroir Restaurant on the De Zalze Estate (200m from the Lodge) has been winning numerous awards with cuisine described as French Provençal with a Cape-inspired ‘twist’.

As one of the most sought-after gourmet destinations in the Cape Winelands, the unpretentious ambience and dressed-down décor continue to belie multi award-winning chef Michael Broughton’s rigorously disciplined approach to food.

Classic pairings and intense depth of flavour characterise the chalkboard menu of ‘deceptively simple’ dishes, influenced by whatever may be in season and, where possible, the use of locally grown, fresh produce. Care and emphasis fall on matching the food to specific wines produced at De Zalze, as well as in the greater Stellenbosch region and further afield.

Terroir’s setting under historic oak trees and with views over the De Zalze Golf Course, surrounding gardens and vineyards, is both refined and relaxed.
